This Tuesday, the World Bank reported that the global economy will record its slowest growth rate since 2008 this year, due to trade tensions and political uncertainty.
“It is expected that increased trade tensions and political uncertainty will lead to global growth registering its slowest pace since 2008 this year, regardless of absolute global recessions,” says the edition of the World Economic Outlook report.
Trade turbulence has led to a reduction in growth forecasts for almost 70% of economies in all regions of the world, according to a note published by Sputnik.
“Global growth is projected to slow to 2.3 percent in 2025, almost half a percentage point below the expected rate at the beginning of the year,” the World Bank report adds.
He also adds that if the forecasts for the next two years are met, the average global growth in the first seven years of the 2020s will be the slowest of all decades since the sixties.
