On a day full of emotion, history and national pride, Yulimar Rojas, the world record holder and double Olympic medalist, returned to compete in Venezuela after more than a decade of absence.
The III Parade of the National Athletics League became the scene of a long-awaited reunion between the athlete and her people, on the track of the Brígido Iriarte Stadium, which today vibrated with each of her jumps.
With her heart beating to the rhythm of the triple jump, The Goddess of Olympus, was reunited with the audience that saw her born as a promise and who today celebrates her as a legend. Her participation not only marked the return of a champion, but also the symbolic closing of a cycle that began in 2015, when she had not yet conquered the world.
Results of the competition:
— First attempt: 13.85 m
— Second attempt: Null
— Third attempt: 14.38 m
— Fourth attempt: 14.24 m
Each jump was a declaration of resilience, a celebration of the talent that has brought Venezuela's name to the top of world athletics. Despite not achieving his best mark, Rojas demonstrated that his connection with the Venezuelan public is as powerful as his technique in the pit.
“It was very exciting to return to Caracas and to feel the energy of my people. This country always drives me to keep going. I have no words, I feel a lot of emotion. For a long time I have wanted to return. These are 10 years of great success and experience,” confessed the world record holder, recalling that her last competition in Venezuela was in 2015, when she had not yet reached the peak of global athletics.
The day was more than a competition: it was a celebration of Venezuelan talent, perseverance and the indissoluble bond between an athlete and her nation.
Yulimar Rojas returned home and with her, hope, pride and certainty returned that Venezuela is a cradle of greatness.
