The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) issued a statement to support the Mexican people and Government, in the face of baseless accusations that seek to criminalize Mexico, by the United States.
The following is the full text of the Communiqué:
The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) strongly supports President Claudia Sheinbaum and the Mexican people in the face of the calumnies and interference of the U.S. government and categorically rejects unfounded accusations that attempt to criminalize Mexico, while ignoring the historical responsibility of the United States government in the violence and drug trafficking crisis affecting our region.
The United States is the main supplier of high-powered weapons to criminal groups, which, combined with its negligent health policies and the irresponsibility of pharmaceutical corporations, continues to claim thousands of lives every year, as documented by international organizations.
President Sheinbaum has demonstrated through deeds her commitment to security and justice, fighting organized crime head-on. The ALBA-TCP supports these efforts and demands the immediate cessation of the economic war, including extortion measures and the excessive application of tariffs, which only deepen inequalities and affect peoples.
As Benemérito de las Américas, Benito Juárez, said: “Among individuals, as between nations, respect for the rights of others is peace.” True cooperation must be based on shared responsibility, genuine dialogue and respect for sovereignty. Unilateral impositions and actions that violate the principles of international law are unacceptable.
