Every April 19, American Aboriginal Day is celebrated, after the Inter-American Indigenous Congress of Mexico held in 1940, with the objective of recognizing the struggles of the continent's original peoples.
This congress was granted by the Mexican president, a descendant of indigenous people, Lázaro Cárdenas, in addition to an important representation of the original people of our continent, where he was also able to discuss the adverse situations they faced.
As a result of this meeting, the Inter-American Indigenous Institute was founded, an entity that today has its headquarters in Mexico and depends on the Organization of American States (OAS).
Since the arrival of the Bolivarian Revolution, it has dignified the country's original peoples, highlighting their struggle and morals. Nowadays in Venezuela, this important community has been favored with the award of housing, land titles, health care, the incorporation of political and social positions for the construction of national development.
