The executive secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), Jorge Arreaza, expressed the solidarity of the block “with the brother People and Government of Bolivia in the face of the intense forest fires that have already consumed almost 4 million hectares of land.”

Through his Telegram channel, he wrote that “the climate crisis generated by the uncontrollable developmentalism of the global north leaves painful and profound consequences in the Global South that our peoples and nature suffer and that we must face together”.

He also noted that work will continue with the “ALBA-TCP Joint Risk and Disaster Management System to offer a supportive response to our sister countries.”

“The sending of a specialized team of forest firefighters by the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela is a sign of the capacities we have in ALBA to help each other under all circumstances,” he added.
