The National Government is carrying out efforts to ensure the movement of water that is dammed in the town of Puerto Nutrias, Barinas state, as a result of the heavy rainfall that has fallen in that town in recent days, said the vice president of Public Works and Services, Jorge Márquez.

“We have carried out an uprising and we are already taking the first contingency action, which is to break what is serving as a dam so that the water that is dammed in the town can move,” said Márquez, while assuring that with these works, progress is being made in the progressive recovery of the affected communities.

In addition to civil works, he pointed out that logistical coordination is maintained to guarantee the population's access to basic supplies (water, food and medicine).

“We are working. President Nicolás Maduro's vocation to serve is full-time and we're not leaving here until we solve this problem,” he emphasized.

On the other hand, according to a press release, Márquez noted that, simultaneously, work is being carried out to protect the piles of the bridge over the Santo Domingo River, on the José Antonio Páez Highway, which was undermined as a result of the rains.
