Cattle producers in the state of Barinas submitted to the National Assembly (AN) a series of proposals for the Livestock Protection Act, which is currently under second discussion in the Venezuelan Parliament.

The legan instrument is aimed at ensuring the safety of livestock and the application of justice in the face of crimes affecting the country's producers.

The vice-president of the National Federation of Cattle Farmers (FEDENAGA), José Labrador, who was responsible for delivering the proposals on behalf of the sector, indicated that they are of “vital importance to protect livestock activity”,

He stressed that legislation must contemplate the application of strict penalties for those who commit crimes related to the theft and illegal marketing of cattle, in addition to guaranteeing a safe environment for livestock producers, providing immediate restitution to each of those affected by scourges that harm the normal development of this economic activity.
