The city of Beijing became the venue for the 2026 Forum on Global Governance of Human Rights, an international meeting that brings together more than 400 representatives from a hundred nations and international organizations, including the United Nations (UN).
The event, jointly organized by the Information Office of the State Council and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, has the fundamental purpose of discussing and promoting a global management system in this area that is characterized by being just, equitable and inclusive.
In the framework of the opening session, the Government of China officially presented its new State Plan of Action on Human Rights (2026-2030), a strategic document that details the public policies and lines of work that the Asian nation will implement over the next five years to ensure protection in this area.
In addition, the authorities presented a balance sheet of the fourth action plan, developed between 2021 and 2025, in order to evaluate the level of compliance and the results of the state goals set in the previous period.
During the working groups, focused on joint development and the safeguarding of fundamental freedoms, international delegates noted that the modernization process experienced by the host country has been accompanied by progressive improvements and advances in the promotion of social and economic rights.
