As part of the actions aimed at strengthening the use of renewable energy in Venezuela, the Minister for Electric Energy, Jorge Márquez, oversaw the progress of the construction of the solar panel farm located in El Vigía, Mérida state.

The purpose of this space is to generate 50 megawatts to strengthen the electrical system of the Andean region, which represents an important advance in solar energy, with the potential for deployment in strategic points in the southwest of the country, contributing to the stability of the electricity service, according to information from the entity.

It should be noted that in June 2024, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, ordered the installation of the first solar energy farm, as part of a large scale strategy aimed at boosting the development of photovoltaic energy.
