Bolivarian Government reinaugurated the Arturo Michelena Museum for popular enjoyment

The Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, reinaugurated the Arturo Michelena Museum (MAM), located in the parish of La Pastora in Caracas, for the enjoyment of the people.

In this regard, according to information from Venezolana de Televisión, Villegas explained that this procedure forms the plan for the recovery of museums developed by the Bolivarian Government.

“President Nicolás Maduro Moro decided on a special plan for the recovery of museums, based on a crisis situation that presented itself to us, regarding the hostile measures that were implemented against Venezuela and that left their wounds on culture. But now La Pastora's most visible wound, of this communal space, is completely healed. The Arturo Michelena Museum was beautifully restored,” he said.

He also extended his congratulations to the entire team that works at the museum center. “I want to applaud the workers who made this recovery possible, with professionalism, because this is a jewel, and recovering this infrastructure and the objects that compose it is not an easy task. Here we have professionals of the highest level, in charge of the custody, conservation and restoration of our works of art,” he said.

He stressed that the provision of cultural spaces, such as the MAM, encourages the promotion and encounter of different manifestations of art. At the same time, he invited the population to find inspiration in this space that allows them to appreciate part of the potential that Venezuela has as a cradle of art.

The head of Culture also recalled that other museum venues were restored, such as the National Art Gallery (GAN), the Alejandro Otero Museum and the Carlos Cruz Diez Museum of Printing and Design. In addition, he noted that more infrastructure will soon be recovered throughout the country.

Among the recovery tasks, the facilities were refurbished to curb humidity, wood work on floors and ceilings, provision of new lighting, beading and painting of the walls, among other aspects of the general treatment.
