Bolivarian Government rejects Trump's military threat and announces that it will defend the right to free trade and sovereignty

On the night of this Tuesday, December 16, from her telegram channel, the vice-president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, released a statement through which the Bolivarian Government in national union repudiates Donald Trump's military threat and will defend his rights to free trade, navigability, free development, sovereignty and national independence.

BOLIVARIAN GOVERNMENT OF VENEZUELA

COMMUNIQUÉ




On the night of today, December 16, 2025, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, violating international law, free trade and free navigation, has launched a reckless and serious threat against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

On his social networks, he assumes that Venezuela's oil, land and mining wealth are his property. And as a result, Venezuela must hand over all its wealth to him immediately. The President of the United States intends to impose in an absolutely irrational way an alleged naval military blockade on Venezuela with the objective of stealing the riches that belong to our country.

Venezuela, in full exercise of the International Law that protects us, of our Constitution and laws of the Republic, ratifies its sovereignty over all its natural riches as well as the right to free navigation, to free trade in the Caribbean Sea and in the world's oceans. Consequently, it will proceed, in strict accordance with the UN Charter, to fully exercise its freedom, jurisdiction and sovereignty over these warlike threats.
Immediately, our ambassador to the UN will proceed to denounce this serious violation of international law against Venezuela.

We call on the people of the United States and the peoples of the world to reject by all means this extravagant threat that reveals once again Donald Trump's true intentions to steal the wealth of the country where the United Liberation Army of South America was born and that saw the birth of our Liberator Simon Bolivar. The people of Venezuela, in a perfect popular military police union, will know how to defend their historic rights and triumph on the road to La Paz.

Mr. Donald Trump textually uses the following interventionist and colonialist expression: “until all the oil, land, and other assets that were previously stolen from us return to the United States.” Their real intention, which has been denounced by Venezuela and the people of the United States in large demonstrations, was always to appropriate the country's oil, land and minerals through gigantic campaigns of lies and manipulation.

Venezuela will never again be a colony of empire or of any foreign power and will continue to follow, together with its people, the path of building prosperity and the unrestricted defense of our independence and sovereignty.

The Venezuelan people, in perfect popular, military and police union, remain steadfast in the unrestricted care of their territory, their wealth and their freedom. With our Liberating Father, we say: “Fortunately, a handful of free men have been seen defeating powerful empires.”
