During the radio program Sin Truco Ni Maña, the Sectorial Vice President of Politics, Citizen Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, highlighted that 2,000 soldiers and police personnel are deployed in the Venezuelan Catatumbo, due to counterintelligence investigations and information that has arrived about a paramilitary incursion into that area.
“Let's remember that Venezuela is under siege of imperialism and the number of mercenaries we have captured have confessed that a group of paramilitaries sent by Iván Duque and Álvaro Uribe would enter that area and when the violence occurred on the Colombian side we had already deployed 2,000 troops,” Cabello explained.
He stressed that the Bolivarian Government had already been investigating and guarding the area for three months in order to guarantee the defense and peace of the country's sovereignty.
“Catatumbo is a region that has its Colombian and Venezuelan side, which is why nothing happens in our territory and the violence that is generated in the neighboring country was caused by Álvaro Uribe Vélez,” he emphasized.
He stressed that, so far, 200 mercenaries have been captured who have tried to attack Venezuela.
“Venezuela is covering its borders,” he added, while stressing that the Colombian Government is doing the same to protect the Catatumbo region as well.
