Cabello on the GPPSB candidate selection process: The numbers tell us that this method was successful

The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, highlighted the correctness of the method of selecting candidates of the Bolivarian Revolution for electoral processes through the consultation of the bases through assemblies.

“We went to an open consultation on Saturday, June 7, in 47,000 communities in the country, and that can be done because there is a political structure. 155,000 proposals were submitted, of which 122,000 were for councilors and 32,000 for mayors (...) the parameters were set in compliance with the Congress of the PSUV, which was an extraordinary example for the elections of governors and deputies to the National Assembly, as evidenced by the numbers. The numbers tell us that this method was successful, because if we look at the numbers, the increase is close to 1 million 8,000 thousand votes when comparing the votes obtained by Chavism in 2021 and now in 2025,” he stressed.

He specified that for this process of selecting candidates by the leadership, “in most cases, the applications made by the base” were respected, as well as the consultation of people who were not candidates or with interests to obtain information that would help with the best choice.

He specified that some of the municipalities where candidates were not chosen, their designation corresponds to the remaining parties of the Great Patriotic Pole Simon Bolivar (GPPSB).
