The Caracas Metro will begin a new phase of corrective maintenance on Line 3 ( Rental Zone - La Rinconada), with the objective of waterproofing the tunnel affected by groundwater levels in the south of the city, as announced by the president of the state company, Carlos Silva.

During an interview with Venezolana de Televisión, Silva highlighted that these tasks are carried out thanks to a joint effort with the Ministry of People's Power for Public Works and the Ministry of People's Power for Transportation.

Silva reported that the works will last two months and will be executed at night to minimize the impact on users. From 7:00 at night to 11:00 p.m., which will result in a small reduction in mobility (reduction in the number of wagons in circulation),

He also noted that starting at 11:00 at night with the system turned off, crews will work intensively until 3:00 in the morning to ensure the regular opening of the service.

This intervention on Line 3 occurs immediately after the successful completion of the work on Line 1 (Propatria section). “We were able to add more trains to Line 1, reducing waiting times from 15 minutes to approximately 7 minutes,” Silva said.

In addition, he announced that a next intervention is already being designed on Line 2, specifically in the section that leads to Caricuao.

The president of the Metro, asserted that one of the fundamental pillars in the recovery of the underground system is the development of reverse engineering. “This process consists of disassembling and interpreting original components and spare parts that have already been finished to understand their design and to be able to manufacture them directly in Venezuela. This strategy seeks to guarantee the continuity of the service and break the dependence on imports of spare parts,” he explained.

In commercial matters, the president of the Caracas Metro confirmed that the underground system keeps its fare frozen at 90 bolivars per trip. To collect the ticket, the SUVE (Single Technical Travel System) card is used massively, an electronic device that works like a digital wallet and that can be easily recharged from cell phones or at stations

Silva highlighted that the SUVE card is already unifying national mass transport, being used in an integrated way in systems such as the Los Teques Metro, the State Railways Institute (IFE), and is moving towards the Valencia Metro and the company Trolebús Mérida, C.A. (TROMECA). In addition, he announced that a pilot project is under development to implement the SUVE card in private public transport vans in Caracas.

He emphasized that through the “The Metro moves with you” plan, the institution has prioritized the recovery of vertical mobility ( escalators and elevators) to facilitate access for people with disabilities and older adults. In addition, operational personnel receive continuous training at the company's training center to provide adequate and respectful support to users who require special assistance.
