The Children's Pavilion at the Venezuela International Book Fair (FILVEN) 2025 was filled with joy, color and art thanks to the workshop “Getting to know each other through caricature”, which was given by renowned plastic artist Efrén Vélez, who captivated girls, boys, teachers, parents and representatives.
During this initiative of the Red Art Foundation, teacher Efrén Vélez shared his artistic approach to portraying emotions through the human face.
In this space, the participants prepared their self-portrait, applying different shades with the pencil, drawing loose lines and using symmetries along with horizontal and vertical axes. This gave life to both joyful and sad expressions, creating a direct connection between art and personal identity.
“We are using loose lines here to correct facial fractions when they are sad or happy,” he explained and emphasized the importance of managing time in the drawing process, using “valued lines” to achieve greater precision and detail in the portraits.
He also invited the capital's public to enjoy this Tuesday the presentation of the book “Indigenous textile art as a means of life for Wayuu women in Venezuela”, by the artisan Luz Fernández, at 5:00 p.m., in the Marc de Civrieux room.
