The Prime Minister of the People's Republic of China, Li Qiang, sent a letter to his Japanese counterpart, Shigeru Ishiba, urging him to adopt a coordinated response to the tariff measures of the President of the United States (USA), Donald Trump,

According to information published by Russia Today (RT), the letter was sent through the Chinese embassy in Japan, stressing the need to “fight together against protectionism”.

On April 2, Trump imposed massive reciprocal tariffs on U.S. trading partners, including China and Japan. Currently, US tariffs on Chinese products amount to 145 percent.

Previously, the president announced that, since more than 75 countries had addressed U.S. representatives to address the issue of tariffs and “have not retaliated in any way”, he authorized for those nations “a 90-day pause and a substantially reduced reciprocal tariff during this period of 10%, also with immediate effect.”
