The National Telecommunications Commission (CONATEL) announced that, as of January 1, 2025, companies that provide television services in the country must contribute to the National Fund for the Development and Social Protection of Cultural Workers.
The requested contribution corresponds to two percent (2%) of the net profits obtained during the year 2024.
The information was disseminated through CONATEL's social networks, in which it states that the contribution is established in article 31 of the Law on Social Protection of Workers and Cultural Workers.
The deadline for television companies to comply with the tax obligation is January 31 of this year.
The collection of this contribution was managed by CONATEL on the basis of an agreement (management order) signed between the ministers Ernesto Villegas, of Culture, and Jorge Márquez, general director of CONATEL, in accordance with instructions from President Nicolás Maduro Moros.
The resources raised through this contribution will be used to finance plans, projects and programs focused on the development and promotion of artistic-cultural activity in Venezuela.
In addition, they will be used to provide social support to the country's cultivators, artists and creators.
