The Deputy Minister for Africa of the Ministry of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yuri Pimentel, visited the headquarters of the Provincial Government of Luanda, where he held a meeting with the Deputy Governor for the Political and Social Sector, Manuel António Gonçalves, as part of his work agenda in the Republic of Angola.
During the meeting, both authorities explored cooperation initiatives between Luanda and Caracas, with a view to generating a twinning that would allow the promotion of projects in the fields of culture, sports, shared heritage and others of common interest, that strengthen ties of friendship.
They also agreed to continue diplomatic and political efforts to place the bust of the Liberator Simon Bolivar in the Angolan capital, in a space already arranged by the Governorate of the province, as announced by the authorities of the African country on July 5, 2022. This initiative responds to the principle of reciprocity between both nations.
In 2015, Venezuela dedicated the placement of a bust and a plaque in homage to Dr. Agostinho Neto in the city of Caracas, near the National Theater, as a testimony to the admiration of the Venezuelan people for the great hero and father of Angola, and as a gesture of friendship and brotherhood between their peoples.
This meeting reaffirms the mutual commitment to strengthening historical, cultural and diplomatic ties between Angola and Venezuela, based on recognition, respect, solidarity and integration between both sister nations and their peoples.
