Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez emphasized that the Venezuelan economy is consolidating a “virtuous circuit” based on the promotion of domestic production and full supply, which currently reaches 97%.
“This circuit has allowed the replacement of imports, not because of scarcity, but because of a significant increase in local production of essential items such as rice, corn, oil, pasta, sugar and medicines,” said Rodríguez, during his participation in the 9th edition of Radiography of Retail, where he offered an assessment of Venezuela's economic performance.
He also explained that this strategy has generated savings in foreign exchange, resulting in a reduction of almost 6% in imports this year.
He stated that the food sector is making “extraordinary” progress in generating foreign exchange through non-oil exports.
In that regard, the Vice President urged participants in the Retail sector, whom she called the “last link” of the chain, to show and promote what was “Made in Venezuela”.
He highlighted that domestic consumption in bolivars grew by 40% so far in 2025. “Bank card transactions experienced robust growth of 20.63%, exceeding the rate recorded in 2024,” he added.
On the other hand, he highlighted that Venezuela's 2025 credit portfolio is the highest since 2016, which registered a growth of "11.2% in the last 12 months.”
The Executive Vice President stated with “humility and annoyance”, but with “certainty” that Venezuela “has defeated the economic war” and the “psychological war” that has been strong in recent years.
Rodríguez concluded his speech by stressing that, despite the “difficulties” and “disturbances” derived from the economic blockade imposed by the North American Empire. “Venezuela is continuing on its path of growth and recovery with social justice and preparing for the closing of a Merry Christmas and the arrival of a successful 2026", he said.
