FANB activated Caribbean Sovereign 200 Campaign Maneuver

In response to U.S. military threats, the sectoral vice president of Defense and National Sovereignty, Vladimir Padrino López, announced the launch of the Caribbean Sovereign Campaign Maneuver 200, a large scale strategic exercise taking place on the island of La Orchila.

During his speech, Padrino López emphasized that this maneuver represents “the fervent continuity of a doctrine written by our supreme commander Hugo Chávez and supported by the firm leadership of Commander in Chief Nicolás Maduro,” he said.

He specified that the maneuver is being carried out in the island territory of La Orchila, located 97 nautical miles off the coast of La Guaira and headquarters of the Antonio Díaz Naval Air Base. The exercise involves the activation of the Caribbean Task Force and five joint task groups:

  • Joint Aerospace Task Group
    - Deployment of
    Buk and ZU-23/Z1 anti-aircraft systems.
    - Use of armed drones, submarines and aerial surveillance.
  • Special Forces Task Force

- Air, maritime and land infiltration operations

- Recognition of underwater spaces.

  • Intelligence and Electronic Warfare Group
    - Collection, Analysis, and Distribution of Military Intelligence
    - Activation of electronic defense systems.
  • Joint Maritime Task Group
    - Amphibious landing and beachhead takeover.
    - Coastal shooting and air defense maneuvers from boats.
  • Joint Ground Task Group
    - Combined patrols with fishermen and coastal communities.
    - Integration of offensive and defensive capabilities on the ground.

Vice President Padrino López emphasized that this exercise reaffirms the commitment of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) to peace in border areas.
