Foreign Minister Yván Gil strengthens relations with African countries at the UN

During the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Venezuelan Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, held meetings with several African counterparts.

These include meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cameroon, Lejeune Mbella Mbella; the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity of Libya, Taher Al-Baour and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of East Africa of Tanzania, Mahmoud Thabit Kombo.

On his official Telegram account, the Venezuelan foreign minister expressed his satisfaction with the meeting with the minister of Cameroon, Lejeune Mbella Mbella, where he highlights the reaffirmation of alliances with African nations within the framework of the UN General Assembly.

Gil also thanked the Libyan minister, Taher Al-Baour, for a meeting that he described as fruitful; “this meeting has allowed us to reaffirm the friendship and cooperation between our peoples, united in the struggle for sovereignty and progress.”

The foreign minister also highlighted the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of East Africa of Tanzania, where the strengthening of cooperation and the strategic alliance between Venezuela and Tanzania was discussed.

These meetings reflect Venezuela's commitment to strengthening ties with African nations, to promote cooperation and joint development in various areas of the world.

For 10 years, Commander Hugo Chávez II promoted an active policy of diplomatic and commercial relations with the African continent. South African President Thabo Mbeki and Hugo Chávez signed a series of agreements in Pretoria on September 2, 2008. It was the Venezuelan president's first visit to South Africa.
