Foreign ministers of Venezuela and Suriname meet to strengthen ties of cooperation

The foreign minister, Yván Gil, arrived this Sunday in Paramaribo, Suriname, to participate in the 15th Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (OTCA).
Regarding this visit, he met with his counterpart from this nation, Albert Ramdin, in order to strengthen ties of brotherhood and cooperation.
“We have arrived in Suriname to strengthen ties of cooperation and to hold a meeting with Foreign Minister Albert Ramdin”, within the framework of the OTCA meeting. “In an environment of respect between our peoples, Venezuela will reaffirm its commitment to promote friendship and cooperation, especially in the agricultural and fishing sectors,” said the Venezuelan diplomat on his Telegram channel.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela specified that the Caribbean nation will participate in the XV Ordinary Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the OTCA as part of the fulfillment of the commitments made at the IV Summit of Presidents of the States Parties to the regional mechanism, which was held from August 8 to 9, 2023, in Belém do Pará, Brazil.
“The meeting, which will be held in order to strengthen regional cooperation and, consequently, to move towards the consolidation of the agenda for the conservation and sustainable development of the Amazon, will lay the preparatory foundations for the V Amazon Summit, scheduled for next August in Colombia, as well as for the Thirtieth Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30), to be held in November of this year.”
