The Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, through his Telegram channel, paid tribute to the Liberator Simon Bolivar for the 195 years since his death.

“The legacy of the Liberator Simon Bolivar symbolizes the greatness of a people that, today, continues to firmly defend the independence and sovereignty of Venezuela against empires that attempt to drag the world into a colonial past,” he wrote.

He also reiterated the determination of the Venezuelan people to be free “committed to the fight for our right to be free and to forge our own destiny, where peace, social justice and South-South unity prevail.”

“Today we pay tribute to some of the emblematic places that treasure the memory of Bolivar: the Sacred Mount, where he took his oath for the independence cause in 1805; the Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino in Santa Marta, where he spent his last days until his death on December 17, 1830; and the National Pantheon of Caracas, which houses the sarcophagus of our Liberator,” he added.
