Government of Zulia activates tourist route to discover the Colossus of Maracaibo

The route includes a journey through the stories of the bridge and enjoying the blue of Coquivacoa

The Municipal Tourism Fund (FOMUTUR) of the Maracaibo mayor's office started the tourist route Bridge over the Lake of the Maracaibo Tram.

According to the press release, although the picturesque tram units are not used, the route to the bridge starts from Vereda del Lago Park, runs along El Milagro Avenue until it connects with Almirante Padilla.

Then go up to the Las Delicias distributor to get off the Circunvalación Número Uno highway, which, in turn, ends at the toll booth and at the western head of the largest bridge in Venezuela.

The bridge was built during the dictatorship of Marcos Pérez Jiménez and inaugurated on August 24, 1962 under the government of Rómulo Betancourt. It measures 8,678 meters and its 134 pillars are anchored deep in the estuary. The six central piles, where the structure reaches its highest height in relation to the surface of the lake, range from 21 to 26, and rise to 92.5 meters . Its dimensions are what make the bridge visible from almost anywhere in Maracaibo.
