The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, announced that the governor of the state of Anzoátegui, Luis José Marcano, will represent the plenary of the Federal Governing Council to replace Héctor Rodríguez, who assumed responsibility as Minister of Popular Power for Education.

In the White Palace, where he led the Plenary of the Federal Governing Council, he specified that Marcano will assume this new responsibility with the objective of strengthening coordination between the central government and local authorities.

“Their participation in the Federal Governing Council seeks to promote development projects in the governorates,” he said.

He also announced that Elio Serrano will assume the Governorate of Miranda state, while Wilmer Rodríguez will be the new governor of the state of Apure.

President Maduro also urged ministers, governors and mayors to break with bureaucratism to ensure that resources reach the people directly.

“The concepts of representative democracy were overcome. Now direct democracy is required of us, we must empower the people in the territory,” he stressed.

He emphasized that the participatory and leading model of democracy is the most ambitious project in Latin America and the Caribbean, and is presented as an alternative to neoliberalism. “We must go together with the peoples, empowering and organizing the majorities in their territory.”
