Governor of Monagas installed the country's first State Communal Council

This Friday, January 31, in Maturín, Monagas state, the State Community Council was installed, with the objective of reaffirming the full commitment to the development of communal government and communal councils.

The day was led by the governor of the entity, Ernesto Luna, who, in statements to the media, reported that Monagas is the first state to install the higher planning body in order to discuss the projects and public policy of the new communal government system.

“We are creating a planning process for the new system of communal government that has been guided by our president Nicolas Maduro, and that, together with the national, state and municipal systems, we put ourselves at the service of communes and communal councils,” he said.

Along with his team from the Federal Government Council, he explained that Monagas has 199 communes and communal circuits made up of 36 communes on the North axis (Acosta, Caripe and Piar); 29 on the South axis (Libertador, Uracoa and Sotillo), 16 in the East (Punceres and Bolivar), 28 on the West axis (Cedeño, Zamora, Santa Bárbara and Aguasay) and Maturín with 90 communes.

In her speech, Luna added that the state governing council works together with the Community Strategic Planning Council and the State Community Council, with the Operational Commission for Territorial Planning and the Operational Commission for Territorial Control and Monitoring.

“It conforms to the new logic of revolutionary, transformative management, complying with the method of Good Communal Governance. Adhering to the exercise of participatory and leading democracy, as a guarantor of the spirit of collective work, which promotes the efficiency, effectiveness and transparency of the management of community and communal governments of the State,” he said.

For his part, the Minister of Popular Power for Communes and Social Movements, Ángel Prado, through a telephone contact, announced that the Monagas state has boomed with popular power due to its organization and project planning, creating a political stability that determines the good system of government.

“There is harmony between regional and municipal governments together with popular power and that today coincides with the installation of this State Council, let's hope that the other states can follow the example of planning that is being used in Monagas,” he stressed.

Prado announced that for the month of February he will visit the East in order to congratulate the organized communes. “Monagas will be a school to strengthen other states,” he said.
