The Executive President of the China-Venezuela Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ángel Freytez, estimated that by 2025 commercial activity between the two nations could grow between 5 and 20%, due to investments made in Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
In an interview with Unión Radio, he pointed out that non-traditional products such as shrimp, crab, octopus and tilapia are exported from Venezuela. “We have products such as wood, methanol, even liquors,” he said.
“This reflects a very significant qualitative increase in Venezuelan export supply to China,” he said.
He noted that China's exports are in the order of 1.3 billion dollars and added that the most important agreements with the most impact are made with the private sector, specifically in everything related to the promotion and development of SEZs.
He recalled that on June 28, Venezuela and the People's Republic of China celebrated 50 years of trade relations and these ties of cooperation have been consolidated over time.
He also mentioned that more than a year has passed since the All-Time Trial Strategic Partnership, established by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro and the President of China, Xi Jinping, has passed to strengthen their ties based on equality, solidarity and brotherhood between Peoples.
For his part, the national superintendent of the SEZs, Johann Álvarez Márquez, emphasized during the 25th World Economic Forum for the Development of Special Economic Zones 2024, held in December, that the SEZs are going to promote the country's industrial development and for that, the development of knowledge and technology is necessary.
