The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, this Wednesday, September 24, emphasized that science in Venezuela has a humanist and not a militarist purpose, “the country does not use scientific research for war purposes.”
“In Venezuela, science is not used to manufacture nuclear weapons or nuclear submarines to bomb,” he highlighted in Miranda state, where he supervised the achievements of the Great Science, Technology and Innovation Mission, at the facilities of the Venezuelan Scientific and Technological Pole, which houses the Institute of Engineering Foundation for Research and Technological Development (FIIDT).
He argued that all research must have as its ultimate goal peace, life and development of both the nation and the Peoples of the world.
“May everything that be done be for peace, for life, and for the development of this infinite earth,” he said, referring to the humanist vision behind his government's scientific and technological policies.
He confirmed that all the nation's scientific and technological efforts are oriented “to life, to the well-being of the people and to integral development, as an expression of human commitment and a vocation for peace.”
