President Nicolás Maduro, when asked by journalist Ignacio Ramonet about the political situation in Syria after the coup d'etat in that nation, reiterated that he is evaluating the development of these events to make an official statement.

“Well, I think we're still under evaluation. I don't think that those who came to power know how they came, nor why they came. You see permanent statements and actions. Let's hope the waters calm down and we can know the truth of what happened. It is known that there were very powerful forces that acted with the greatest technology,” said the national president.

He confirmed that the ambassador was there until just a few days ago when he left Damascus because of threats to assassinate diplomats.

“I was very struck by how they took over social networks and how the Syrian State had no tools to prevent it. And how they managed to impose digital terrorism, terrorism on social networks and paralyzed the entire society. There would be many ways to explain what happened, let's hope in due course,” said the president.

He also pointed out that what happened in Syria leaves lessons for those who fight for freedom, for independence, for a world for the men and women of the south.

“It leaves very important lessons, such as the consolidation of democratic, profound states, with the people, with unity; the consolidation of well-trained, well-prepared military forces. He is leaving lessons in what the management of social networks has to do with it. Syrian society is a complex society,” he stressed.
