This Sunday, January 12, in the afternoon, the regrettable news broke of the physical departure of former Attorney General of the Republic, Julián Isaías Rodríguez Díaz, called the prosecutor of dignity, for his actions during the coup d'etat of April 11, 2002 against Commander Hugo Chávez.
Faced with this fact, Rodríguez called a press conference in which he would supposedly officially present his resignation, however, what he did was denounce the real situation that was taking place in the country at that time.
He provided the country with information about the state in which Commander Chávez was in Fuerte Tiuna and confirmed that he had not actually resigned from office. He announced to the country live and directly that a coup d'etat was taking place.
Rodríguez, lawyer, graduated from the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), was the first Executive Vice President of Venezuela, under the new Constitution of 1999; attorney general of the Republic, and second vice-president of the National Constituent Assembly convened in 2017 and a member of the 1999 Constituent Assembly.
The leader Elías Jaua, on his account of the social network Instagram, said: “I regret to report the death of our dear friend and compatriot, the poet, the Courageous Prosecutor, one of the founders of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Julián Isaías Rodríguez Díaz. It hurts in the soul and in the conscience. I'm going to need you. Until victory always my friend”.
