Venezuelan Jefferson Savarino took second place in the voting for The King of America award.
Savarino was overtaken in the voting by his teammate Luiz Henrique who, like the Venezuelan, was champion with Botafogo in the Copa Libertadores and in the 2024 Brazilian League.
The newspaper El País de Uruguay is responsible for awarding the prize.
A total of 244 journalists were in charge of voting, giving 52% (128) of the votes to Henrique, while Savarino had 25 votes and Colombian Juan Fernando Quintero, winner of the Copa Sudamericana with Racing, finished in third place with 17 votes.
Henrique scored 11 goals and 5 assists between the local tournament and the Libertadores, in addition to his outstanding individual and collective performances. With the national team, he scored goals against Chile and Peru.
For his part, Savarino scored 14 goals and gave 13 assists in 55 games with the Brazilian team and with Vinotinto he scored against Chile.
