The 29th Pilgrimage of the Shepherds of the Child Jesus was held in Los Teques, Miranda state, in a demonstration of faith that every year brings together promisers, families and communities around spirituality and Christmas tradition.
In this regard, the Secretary of Intangible
Cultural Heritage of Miranda, Mariam Martínez, stressed that “the Pilgrimage of the
Shepherds of the Child Jesus is a practice of profound spiritual and
community significance, which is safeguarded thanks to the commitment of its bearers and the sustained
work of transmitting knowledge between generations”.
He also highlighted the active
participation of children and young people in this celebration, which forms the living cultural
heritage of the state.
Accompanied by traditional music and songs, the
Los Teques Child Jesus party set off from its headquarters in the
parking lot of the Caracas residences to visit a series of
community altars, where devotees raised prayers and thanks for favors granted.
The tour culminated in the San Felipe Neri Cathedral, where the Eucharist
was celebrated presided over by the monsignor, Freddy Fuenmayor.
Later, on Bolívar Avenue, the Pilgrimage
began formally with the payment of promises and the incorporation of new
devotees, a day marked by the presence of practitioners of all
ages, especially the Centers for Initiation and Transmission of Knowledge,
who for months prepared to dance and accompany this expression of the Christmas holiday cycle.
