On August 12, 1911, Mario Alfonso Moreno Reyes, known as Cantinflas, was born. He was a prominent Mexican actor who, with his performances, humorously reflected the social inequalities of the time on the big screen.

He won a Golden Globe in 1956 with this character traveling around the world in 80 days. Cantinflas was a phenomenon that revealed the identity of the lower classes in Mexico and allowed Moreno to establish a long and successful film career.

He participated in his country's politics conservatively, and his reputation as a spokesperson for the unprotected provided him with authenticity, making him an important figure in the fight against Trade Union Charrism (the practice of governing a single party to manage and control unions).

Charles Chaplin considered him to be the best comedy actor of the time because of his interpretive versatility. 113 years after his birth, he is still a reference as an actor and as a man who worried about social demands.
