During a day of environmental sanitation, more than five tons of solid waste were collected in 15 tourist spots in the Brión and Páez municipalities of Miranda state.
The activities were organized and carried out by the Ministry of Environment of Miranda State, with the support of the Foundation for the Defense of Nature (FUDENA), Ecobrión, Proyecto Sur, the Fruto Vivas University, 25 non-governmental organizations and the entity's Service and Maintenance Corporation (Corposervices), as part of the celebration of World Beach Day.
Francis Herrera, Secretary of Environment Miranda, indicated that the activity was carried out specifically on beaches, resorts and rivers in both municipalities in Barlovento, according to Prensa Gobernación de Miranda.
“From the Ministry of Environment, we appreciate the beautiful commitment of Fudena, Ecobrión and Corposervices. Together we will advance in the fight for the care and conservation of our planet. We will continue working to continue promoting the Miranda Environment Plan, whose objective is to conserve our ecosystem, to keep our beaches clean and beautiful,” he said.
For his part, the coordinator of the Miranda Environment Secretariat, Yoswell Rodríguez, stressed that the environmental sanitation day will serve to carry out a study on the garbage collected to determine the causes and initiate an awareness-raising process both among the inhabitants of the surrounding areas and of the tourists who visit these tourist destinations.
“This activity allowed us to continue encouraging and strengthening participation between young people and adults to preserve the environment in our state,” he said.
