The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that the Natanz enrichment center suffered a direct impact during the Israeli aggression carried out early Friday morning against Iran's nuclear facilities.
Although the damages are under evaluation, the competent Iranian authorities assured that no high levels of radiation were recorded in the nuclear complex.
According to Telesur, the nuclear facilities in Isfahan and Fordow remain intact, following initial reports provided by Tehran. However, the full extent of the damage to the Natanz nuclear reactor remains under expert evaluation.
Rafael Mariano Grossi, director general of the IAEA, informed the respective authorities of his intention to travel to Iran as soon as possible to personally assess the situation and ensure nuclear safety, protection and non-proliferation. It also maintains direct contact with IAEA inspectors deployed in both Iran and Israel.
The safety of international personnel is an absolute priority for the agency, which implements all necessary measures to protect its officials in the field. Inspectors are continuing their monitoring work despite increased regional tensions.
Grossi reaffirmed that the only sustainable path for Iran, Israel, the region and the international community is based on dialogue and diplomacy to ensure peace, stability and cooperation. The IAEA, as a technical institution responsible for overseeing the peaceful use of nuclear energy, remains the vital forum for international dialogue.
