The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, stated that the defensive lightning military exercise was a total success: “Costa Independence Defense 200", executed immediately in response to constant imperialist threats.

In that regard, he praised the deployment of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB); the Bolivarian National Militia (MNB) and the police forces on the country's coasts, and assured that Venezuela is ready to guarantee its peace and sovereignty.

“Today there were some exercises, at 12 o'clock in the evening and I called those who I had to call and I gave them an order to activate all the forces, all the military equipment immediately to defend the points of action along the Venezuelan coast, from Zulia to the Sucre state,” he explained.

He specified that the FANB, the Bolivarian Militia and the police forces deployed first-level equipment, including anti-aircraft weapons, in 73 central points of the country. Each of these points, in turn, deployed forces at 10 subsequent points.

“At 3 in the morning, already at 9 in the morning they gave me the report: 100% of all the country's coasts were covered in real time with all the equipment and heavy weapons to defend all the coasts of Venezuela if necessary,” he said at the swearing in of the Promoting Commission for the Workers' Constituent Assembly, within the framework of the Strategic Plan for the Seven Great Transformations and the Homeland Program.

He pointed out that this success is possible thanks to the military equipment acquired through the sovereignty policy, that “President Hugo Chávez bought it for the country, thanks to President Putin, thanks to China and thanks to many friends in the world. Venezuela has the equipment to guarantee peace.”

He also denounced that the country has faced 10 weeks of imperialist threats of psychological warfare, to which the answer is a “patriotic fervor that we have never seen in Venezuela, perhaps since the time of Cipriano Castro, to defend what is ours.”

“Who said that Venezuela belongs to the gringos? Who said that Venezuela had to be a colony of gringos? Neither colony nor slave, independence and freedom,” he said.
