In the Gaza Strip, the humanitarian crisis is worsening, with nearly 2 million people living without any access to food, as reported by the World Food Program (WFP) of the United Nations (UN).

“The humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip is worsening. Around 2 million people, most of them displaced, now live without any source of income and are completely dependent on humanitarian aid to cover their food needs,” the Palestinian news agency WAFA quotes from the report.

In this regard, WFP added, expressed its “serious concern about the sharp decline in food reserves and the acute shortage of basic resources for life” in the enclave.

The agency stresses that the “critical situation is aggravated by the continuous closure of border crossings by Israel, which prevents the delivery of vital food to the besieged Gaza Strip”, because the enclave needs an uninterrupted flow of food.

According to various estimates, the population of Gaza was between 2 and 2.5 million before the full-scale fighting broke out there.

On March 18, the Israeli Zionist Army resumed fighting in Gaza, launching massive air strikes against the enclave, thus breaking the ceasefire established in January of this year.
