The
Sectorial Vice President of Defense and Sovereignty, Vladimir Padrino López, denounced that the acts
of violence presented on the border on the Colombian side have the
support of the Colombian oligarchy in the hands of figures such as Álvaro Uribe.
“Álvaro Uribe always
has his hands in situations like these, Iván Duque also has
his hands stuck in this destabilization that is taking place in Colombia, which has already produced more than 80 deaths,
victims of violence, just as
we are also victims of the violence of those armed groups that, due
to the permeability of the border, come and go,” he said from the Command Post in Santa Bárbara del Zulia.
He also
took the opportunity to take stock of the last Catatumbo Lightning Operations
that have been carried out in this same region, highlighting that 47 drug trafficking logistics
structures have been destroyed, 36 drug processing
laboratories destroyed in Venezuelan territory, 21 aircraft used for drug trafficking have been disabled and 71 clandestine runways destroyed, among other operational
achievements.
In addition, he recalled that, at the recent meeting with his Colombian counterpart, Iván Velásquez Gómez, to increase communication and establish a protocol “to seek efficiency and effectiveness in each of our territories in the fight against transnational crime, criminal groups, armed groups and also against drug trafficking.”
“We are going to seek more efficiency, more
effectiveness in all these operations; and in the name of President Nicolás Maduro
Moros, who is always willing to dialogue, to peace, we must always highlight
all the efforts we have made to achieve peace in Colombia (...)
we will always be one foot in the lead advocating peace in Colombia, which is the peace of Venezuela and is
the peace of the entire region,” he said.
For this reason,
he said he was pleased with the deployment of this Operation, which seeks to
continue to keep those armed groups on the Venezuelan border at bay.
“I can tell the people of Venezuela that they can trust their Bolivarian National Armed Forces, that we are doing the job, not only here, today we are carrying out operations in the Amazon, in the Guri, we are carrying out operations in Guárico, in other words, we are not only focused on this region, but we are doing several operations at the same time simultaneously to guarantee national sovereignty,” he said.
