In an important announcement from the transition house in the Iztapalapa Mayor's Office, Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the elected Mexican president, revealed her commitment to social welfare by presenting two innovative reform initiatives.
These proposals, which are expected to be implemented starting in 2025, seek to strengthen the quality of life of Mexican citizens through inclusive social programs, the Telesur website reported.
The first of these programs highlighted by Sheinbaum Pardo is “Support for Women from 60 to 64 years old”, designed to provide financial support to women of that age group, in order to improve their living conditions.
“As a woman President arrives, we must recognize women from Mexico, Mexican women and that is why this program is, so that when they reach 60 years of age it is not only a recognition but that women have support that allows them to develop, to generate autonomy for their own development,” she explained.
The initiative reflects the commitment of the future president to gender equity and the empowerment of women in society.
Sheinbaum also emphasized the importance of education when announcing the "Universal Scholarship for Public School Students”. This program will cover all preschool, primary and secondary school children enrolled in public institutions, seeking to ensure equitable access to education and reduce educational disparities across the country.
“We are going to start in 2025 with all the boys and girls in high school, the teenagers in high school, that will be our beginning in 2025,” he said, noting that this support will be gradually extended to all families with sons and daughters in preschool and primary school.
These proposals are not only part of Sheinbaum's comprehensive vision for Mexico's social development, but they also represent a commitment to the country's transformation and progress.
Reaffirming her commitment during the press conference, the president-elect stressed that these programs will set the tone for a more just and equitable Mexico.
The reform initiatives presented are part of the ambitious legislative package promised by Sheinbaum during his presidential campaign. Now, they are expected to be discussed and approved in the Congress of the Union with the support of all political forces, in order to promote the well-being of Mexican families.
“This also involves a constitutional change for the fourth constitutional article, we are already preparing the initiative. Our goal is that I sent it to the President of the Republic so that it doesn't have to be after October 1, but that it was sent sooner,” said the president-elect
He also recognized that these new social programs respond to the principles of the Fourth Transformation, which seek to guarantee help to those who need it most, as has been done during the Government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, since he asserted that this will be the essence of the construction of the second floor of Q4.
With these proposals, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo reaffirms her commitment to building a country in which social justice is a palpable reality.
