The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, explained that there will be three fundamental points to be addressed in this year's constitutional reform.

In the solemn session at the beginning of the activities of the Judicial Year, the Head of State specified that “this year we have a challenge and I ask for greater participation and cooperation within the framework of the collaboration of powers and national interests for the Great Constitutional Reform that we are going to develop with dialogue and debate with all Venezuelan society.”

He explained that the three proposed vital elements are “expanding democracy to the highest level socially, politically, economically and culturally. Secondly, define more clearly the elements that should make up the society we are building in the 21st century; its ethics, spirituality and how a united society must move towards a new model and, thirdly, the economic model to free us from dependence on hydrocarbons to the same extent that we develop hydrocarbons”.
