The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, held a meeting this Friday, January 10, with the high-level delegation of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries (FPEG), to continue strengthening ties of brotherhood and economic growth.
The activity broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión indicates that Mohamed Hame l, Secretary General of the FPEG, and the Secretary General of OPEC, Haitham Al Ghais, were in Venezuela to participate in the swearing-in ceremony of President Maduro, who took office this Friday, 10, his new constitutional mandate for the period 2025-2031.
International delegations have highlighted the continued relevance of Venezuela in the global oil market, as it reinforces strategic relations between the country, OPEC and the FPEG, on the eve of the new presidential term.
The presence of these commissions in Venezuela is a sign that the Venezuelan nation is not alone and has international support and respect, in addition to the recognition of the Venezuelan President as legitimate president.
In 2024, the People's Power Minister for Hydrocarbons, Delcy Rodríguez, met with the Secretary General of OPEC, in Caracas, to consolidate bilateral cooperation and discuss energy policies in a challenging global context.
In addition, during his visit to the Russian Federation in the same year, he held a meeting with the Secretary General of the FPEG, to address issues related to new energy strategies.
