The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, emphasized that the Venezuelan people were strengthened and grew in all spheres and invented “today we are stronger than ever at the grassroots”, referring to the criminal and illegal sanctions imposed by North American imperialism against Venezuela.

“North American imperialism believed that with sanctions, taking 99% of our income from us, the Venezuelan class would become confused and surrender,” he said at the swearing in of the Commission Promoting the Workers' Constituent Assembly, within the framework of the Strategic Plan for the Seven Great Transformations and the Homeland Program.

In this context, he recalled that “the years 17, 18, 19, 20 arrived, with a pandemic in the 21st, and the Venezuelan working class, we the workers, were neither confused nor surrendered. What we did was work, invent, create, push forward”.

“In these 26 years of Revolution, the working class has been victorious, it has been there, in the face of the gringo missiles of sanctions, of the oil strike against the Government of Commander Chávez. They have always been there producing,” he stressed.

The head of state maintained that “today we are victorious, more powerful and stronger than ever, at the base, in the streets, in the factories. True workers' power is always being built, always creating and innovating”.
