The president of the Supreme
Court of Justice (TSJ), Caryslia Rodríguez, highlighted International
Law this Thursday as one of the fundamental pillars for
building a world based on justice, equity and peace, values
extolled by Venezuela despite threats and multiple attacks
by the United States (USA).
During her
participation in the Meeting of Jurists in Defense of International Law,
held in Caracas on November 13 and 14, the magistrate emphasized the defense of “
the regulatory architecture that has allowed humanity to
resolve conflicts while respecting the sovereign equality of States. The
cornerstone of this system is the principle that obliges them to comply with the
treaties to which they are party, which constitutes the backbone in
relations between nations,” he said.
In this regard,
he stressed that “this Meeting of Jurists is consolidated as a space
to reaffirm the validity and the imperative need of International Law
as the fundamental pillar for the preservation of peace, security and cooperation between States.”
He said that principles such as “the prohibition of the use of
force, the peaceful resolution of disputes, non-intervention in the internal
affairs of other countries and cooperation constitute the
peremptory and fundamental norms that the international community as a whole
accepts and recognizes as mandatory. They are universal principles that protect common
interests and cannot be violated”, and “their violation not only generates international
responsibility on the part of the offending State, but also shocks the
conscience of humanity”, as evidenced by the US military deployment in the Caribbean and its threats against
the Bolivarian nation.
“We must be the first to denounce the violation of ethical and legal
values as instruments of peace and equality among the
peoples of the world (...) Today we raise our voices once again to reaffirm our
commitment to life, to self-determination and to our right to
follow the path we have chosen,” concluded Rodríguez.
