The Minister of Popular Power for Tourism, Leticia Gómez, indicated that Venezuela expects a 35% growth in inbound tourism.

During his speech at the third plenary session held at the 26th UN Tourism Assembly, in the city of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, he stressed that this figure confirms that the country is on the right path towards consolidating its tourism sector as a key actor in the post-rentier economy.

Gómez stressed that this optimism is based on the sustained increase in international visitors achieved in the last four years, as a result of a strategic vision and the effectiveness of policies led by the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, MINTUR press reports.

The head of the Tourism portfolio explained that this growth is achieved despite the great challenges imposed by unilateral coercive measures, and the media campaign to discredit the United States government.

“The success of these figures is the result of a promotion strategy and international agreements that position Venezuela as an attractive option,” he added.

He also asserted that through the Moscow-Porlamar charter operation, in coordination with Venetur Russia, Pegas Touristik, Hovertours and the Ministry of People's Power for Tourism, more than 5 thousand Russian travelers have arrived in Venezuelan lands.
