This Thursday, the Minister of Popular Power for Education, Héctor Rodríguez, highlighted the
role of schools in the formation of citizens with values,
so he urged teachers to know the environment of children and
young people beyond school and thus lead them to a society that
is respected and recognized.
During the installation of the
second phase of the National Plan for Teacher Training, at the headquarters of the
Ministry of Education, in Caracas, Rodríguez assured that in
cases of school violence, “we must go beyond the facts and
look for causes to address them.”
“Each child is a
world and each school is a world and we are responsible for
knowing what is behind the violence of that child who comes to
school to mistreat his classmates. A well-trained and
prepared teacher is able to detect these problems and solve them
in the same school, because almost always violence against children is
because there is a violent environment,” he argued.
Rodríguez
asserted that saying: “I was raised with a slap from time to time
and nothing happened to me,” cannot be a justification for
child abuse, because surely that generation carries some trauma.
“We're not good. We have a thousand traumas as a society,
with a thousand doubts, with a thousand fears that we don't know how to process, and
we can do better and have an increasingly
loving education,” he emphasized.
