The Russian Federation and Vietnam agreed not to form coalitions with other countries that could harm each other, as reported by the Asian president, To Lam, during the press conference after talks with his counterpart, Vladimir Putin, who is in Hanoi on an official visit.

“We will not enter into alliances with third countries to harm the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of one of the parties,” said To Lam.

The Vietnamese leader mentioned equality and mutual respect, as well as non-interference in each other's internal affairs among the fundamental principles of a comprehensive strategic partnership, Russia Today (RT) detailed.

Hanoi and Moscow will also increase cooperation in the field of defense and security, he said, “We will fight together against the world's new and traditional challenges in accordance with international law.”

“We agreed to increase regular contacts,” emphasized the president of Vietnam, recalling that contacts are already being maintained between governments, parties, parliaments and various departments.

The two nations will develop their collaboration in other spheres, such as culture, tourism, contacts between youth, education and sports.

President Putin emphasized the long history of relations between Vietnam and Russia since the time of the Soviet Union, highlighting the continuous development of cooperation in the fields of technology, economy, innovation, banking and finance.

In this context, he named the growing role of national currencies in mutual payments, which grew to almost 60% in the first three months of 2024.
