Simon Bolivar School Ship Arrived in Cuba

The Simón Bolívar School Ship arrived at the Olimpia Medina Pier in Cienfuegos, Cuba, as part of activities that reinforce bilateral relations between the two nations. The boat was received with corresponding military honors by representatives of the Venezuelan Embassy in Cuba and the people of Cienfuegos.
Upon their arrival in the city in south-central Cuba, the cadets were greeted by the ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the island, Orlando Maneiro, accompanied by political and governmental authorities from the Cuban province. Among them, the Chief of Staff of the Cienfuegos Military Region, First Colonel Jorge Félix Gálvez Cornelio.
After the reception ceremony, as reported by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), a prayer ring was held in honor of those killed in the accident of the Mexican School Ship Cuauhtémoc in the American city of New York, which unfortunately left two dead. In his words of welcome, Maneiro expressed to his compatriots the pride he feels to welcome them to Cuba and invited them to be carriers of the energy of Bolivarian military youth and faithful ambassadors of Venezuelan peace diplomacy.
The vessel sailed from the Bolivarian port on March 22 of this year, with a crew of 190 people, including cadets, sergeants, officers and sailors, and plans to return to their country on June 28, according to the ship's captain, Ronald Briceño. For her part, the governor of Cienfuegos, Yolexis Rodríguez, stressed that “this visit symbolizes the solid friendship that unites our peoples and governments. Cienfuegos welcomes Simon Bolivar's crew with joy and fraternity.
During their stay on Cuban soil, the crew members will participate in sociocultural exchange activities together with representatives of the Cuban Revolutionary War Navy and students from naval institutions on the Caribbean island, to strengthen their professional training. Sites of historical and cultural relevance in Cuba would also be visited, as well as sporting events and other socialization activities, such as the visit to the Ernesto Che Guevara Sculptural Complex in Santa Clara.
