State Student Sports Games phase 2025 kicked off in Monagas

In search of forming the selection of the Monagas state for the next edition of the XIX National Student Sports Games 2025, this Thursday the Gilberto Roques Morales gymnasium celebrated the start of the state phase where the best of the entity will measure their strength to gain a space in the Monaguense delegation.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Popular Power for Sports, Franklin Cardillo, Governor Ernesto Luna and the director of the Center for the Development of Educational Quality of Monagas, Mary Salazar, representing the Ministry of Education.

This stage will bring together 148 athletes from the 13 municipalities of Monagas who will compete in 14 disciplines in a sports festival that will promote youth talent.

The sports that will be under development during this phase will be chess, athletics, handball, 3×3 basketball, 5×5 basketball, baseball five, futsal, kikimbol, volleyball, table tennis, karate do, taekwondo, rhythmic and artistic gymnastics.

In addition, the state of Monagas has a direct classification of seven disciplines to the national phase, so there will be no state qualifier in sports: handball (women's), 5×5 basketball (women), wrestling and Greco-Roman wrestling, judo, weightlifting and swimming.

With this event, the Monagas state continues to promote sports as a comprehensive training tool for young people and at the same time promotes values such as discipline and responsibility together with teamwork and personal improvement.
