Civil Protection of the state of Táchira declared a yellow alert due to the intense rainfall and low temperatures that have affected the region in recent days. Authorities report flooding on main roads, tree falls, mudslides and soil saturations, affecting more than 15 communities and 35 homes.

The director of Civil Protection Táchira, Yesnardo Canales, reported that preventive measures have been implemented to protect the population. Among them, the temporary stoppage of traffic in areas vulnerable to landslides and accumulations of mud. “We have instructed the intermittent suspension of traffic in risky areas to avoid any situation that threatens the lives of citizens,” said Canales.

Authorities have indicated that at least 35 homes are at risk due to structural damage, many of them built more than 30 years ago in riverbeds and high-risk areas. Civil Protection continues to carry out inspections and evaluations to determine the necessary actions to support affected families.

For its part, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (INAMEH) reported that rains and showers will persist throughout the country, especially in the Andean region, as well as in Delta Amacuro, Monagas, Sucre, Bolivar, Amazonas, the Central and Western Plains, and Zulia.

The authorities urge the population to keep an eye on official reports and follow the recommendations of Civil Protection in the event of possible emergencies.
