The 69th edition of the 2025 Livestock Fair, which takes place at the facilities of the Táchira Farmers Association (ASOGATA), broke the record for participation with 750 animals to judge and 47 livestock farms present.
The inauguration of the oldest livestock fair in the country has marked a milestone in the history of the sector, said Edgar Medina, president of ASOGATA and the National Federation of Cattle Farmers (FEDENAGA).
This was announced by ASOGATA, on his account on the social network Instagram, in which Medina highlighted the dedication of Venezuelan farmers, who work hard to feed the country.
“We have confidence in a country that is going to grow, and in the coming years, Venezuela will not only feed its domestic market, but it will also be able to export high-quality products,” he said.
The event was attended by the Minister of the People's Power of Agriculture and Lands, Menry Fernández; the governor of the state of Mérida, Jehyson Guzmán and the governor of the state of Táchira, Freddy Bernal.
In his speech, Bernal referred to the remarkable growth of the sector, stating that meat production has increased from 240 to 290 thousand tons, reflecting growth of more than 30%, “this development implies a positive impact on the economy, generating employment and prosperity”.
He said he was proud of the presence of these animals with the best bovine and buffalo genetics in all of Venezuela. “Táchira has historically been a producer state and therefore President Nicolás Maduro's greatest effort in investing for the growth of agricultural and livestock production,” he said.
He also explained that he held a large working meeting with the agricultural and livestock sector, where 48 presidents of livestock associations attended and as a result, two commissions were created, one for cattle and the other for bananas.
He reported that next February 11, they will meet with the Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, in Caracas.
For his part, the governor of Mérida, Jehyson Guzmán, praised the organization of the event, highlighting the mobilization capacity and the security implemented.
He stated that the fair not only activates the commercial and productive sectors, but also offers a recreational opportunity for the community, contributing to collective social welfare.
The 2025 Livestock Fair is held at the ASOGATA facilities and represents a moment of encounter to expose the wealth of the livestock sector and the hope for a prosperous future for Venezuela.
